50% Complete
Hello everyone!
This week I have exciting news. The game has reached the 50% milestone. This means that the main mechanics are implemented. This week I decided to add something to the game that would make it challenging. I wanted something to make it a downside to hitting walls, so the player would try to avoid them. To do this I made the characters speed cut in half when they hit a wall. I also made a new object to be the final goal. The final goal would send the player to a win screen if they beat the game in the correct amount of time. I also made an object that ticks up a global variable every second and put that in every room.
Once there was a challenge to the game, I wanted to add in rooms that showed the player what the room was before sending them into the dark. I call these rooms the day rooms. It gives the player a chance to memorize the room. Next was to create a camera that followed the character, so I could create bigger levels. The additional camera movements help represent the disorination of night blindness. FInally I created a basic main menu and a pause system.
The current state of the game is currently available for download!
